Validation of a proposed Prehospital Early Warning Score (nzPHEWS)

A modification of a proposed New Zealand prehosiptal early warning score (nzEWS) will be applied retrospectively to 100 ambulance reports for patients with each status level of 1 to 4 ("immediate threat to life" to " no threat to life") who are admitted to the Emergency Department. The main inculsion criterion is documentation of all components of nzPHEWS. The calculated nzPHEWS will be compare with the ambulance status code and the outcomes of admission to hospital, admission to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), cardiac arrest, or death, to assess the predictive value of nzPHEWS.
